Following the end of the Indochina conflict, numerous war-affected Southeast Asian countries, notably Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, have experienced difficulties in rehabilitating and caring for combat-related disabilities. War injuries, explosive weapons, and social ruin have long-term consequences for both individuals and these nations. War-related injuries have an impact not only on the survivor’s physical bodies but also on their mental health and their ability to work, study, and contribute to the society. Post-war rehabilitation in this region must prioritize the development of health care and social support infrastructure that can meet the specific needs of people with disabilities, for example, physical and mental rehabilitation programs, vocational training, and opportunities to participate in the society and the workforce. Government financial and policy support is critical to achieving a sustainable and inclusive society for all. Comprehending the impact of disabilities created by war and rehabilitation policies in the Indochina region will aid in understanding the challenges and opportunities for improving the situation of people with disabilities in post-war societies, as well as for advocating for the creation of an environment conducive to national inclusion and development.
