Reminiscence Therapy
摘要
The number of people aged 70 and over is increasing worldwide. The aging process can occur naturally or pathologically. This means that some people of senior age may experience cognitive impairment of varying degrees. Depending on their severity and whether they are associated with diseases that run the course of dementia syndromes, older people will require support in their daily functioning. When self-care deficits arise due to multimorbidity and dependence on medical equipment for daily functioning, these individuals are often provided with 24-hour care by their immediate family or long-term residential care institutions. They may then receive specialized support in the form of rehabilitation and therapy. One such form will be reminiscence therapy. It primarily aims to consolidate the older person’s identity, preserve their past, and stimulate cognitive function, emotional well-being, and social bonding.
