This entry will present the roots of family quality of life (FQOL) as a sensitizing concept in the field of intellectual and/or developmental disability. The key definitions and domains of FQOL will be explored as well as the two most common measures and methods of assessment. Scholarship from the field including results from international studies will be included. Practical implications will be suggested as well as possible future directions for the field.
