Oral Health
摘要
Oral health is an irreplaceable aspect of life that affects not only the oral cavity but also the general well-being of an individual. People with disabilities, like those in the general population, are not exempt from encountering oral health-related concerns. It is important to identify these concerns and inform communities, oral healthcare professionals, and policymakers to achieve beneficial outcomes for people with disabilities. This entry provides the reader with a perspective on the prevalence of oral health-related issues in people with disabilities as well as the importance of recognizing the special healthcare needs of such individuals. The reader is also introduced to an appraisal of current evidence regarding some of the most encountered oral conditions and diseases amongst persons with disabilities as well as the barriers to care that these individuals experience.
