Applying open research practices will arguably heighten trustworthiness and accessibility of special education research by combating scientific practices that in the literature are defined as questionable (e.g., p-hacking). The following open research practices are discussed in this entry: Preregistration and Registered Reports, Open Access publishing, and Open data. Yet, none of these practices alone is a panacea, and open research has its own limitations. For example, special education researchers who are new to open research can feel overwhelmed by not knowing where and how to start applying these practices. There are, however, several useful resources and guidelines they can consult to get started.
