Autistic Autobiography
摘要
This entry reviews lessons learned from English-language autobiographical accounts of autistic authors. The focus is on the potential benefits of autistic autobiographies for autistic people (authors and readers), non-autistic people (family, friends, and teachers of autistic individuals), and for autism science more broadly. These benefits include combating epistemic injustice, creating autistic community, fostering empathic understanding of sensory and other challenges, providing practical suggestions for classroom accommodations, and challenging current understandings of autism, among others.
