Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+)
摘要
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) disabled people have been well-established in the literature as a population experiencing widespread disadvantage and marginalization. This entry focuses on the experiences of disabled people who defy norms of sex, gender, and sexuality, and how oppression emerges at the intersection of these identities. First, this entry highlights the high level of overlap between LGBTQ+ and disabled communities, and explores commonly posed explanations for this phenomenon, including how minority stress may contribute to LGBTQ+ individuals becoming disabled. This entry then summarizes LGBTQ+ disabled people’s experiences of disadvantage and barriers to access in three consequential life areas: community environments, healthcare, and social care and support. Finally, this entry discusses the role of training in supporting LGBTQ+ disabled people, and the wider actions needed to address the inequalities faced by this population.
