The Sound of Freedom: Radio Freedom as an Instrument of Social and Political Mobilisation Against an Illegitimate State: A Practitioner’s Reflection
摘要
This chapter is a reflection from one of Radio Freedom’s station manager and director. It contextualises the role of the station in light of the historical events that necessitated its founding. Drawing on Julius-Adeoye ‘Rantimi Jays’s notion of radio as an instrument of mass mobilization, it looks back on Walter Sisulu’s historic 26 June 1963 broadcast that marked the African National Congress' use of radio as a tool of mass mobilisation in the fight for liberation.
