Overview of Gastrointestinal Tract Involvement
摘要
This introductory chapter gives an overview of gastrointestinal manifestations of systemic sclerosis (SSc) that represent the most frequent internal organ complications and can be one of the most debilitating features. Pathogenesis reflects the vasculopathy and fibrosis of the overall disease but has specific impacts based upon gut structure and function. Treatment remains challenging although symptoms can be managed and proton pump inhibitors are established as standard medication for most patients.
