Conclusions

This chapter wraps our project up. We review our main findings and insights across the three analytical steps through which we investigated fan perspectives and identifications. In doing so, we also discuss the divergence of findings across methods and how to square those inconsistencies. Subsequently, we report some experiences and observations that go beyond our scientific results (strictly speaking), thereby highlighting some lessons learned from the project. Finally, the chapter discusses how our findings trigger new questions and research avenues that should be pursued to uncover the full potential of football and leisure-world activities more generally for European identity research.
