Introduction
摘要
This chapter briefly sketches and links the three context areas of the book: Europeanisation of football, fandom research and Europeanisation of identities. The two guiding research questions of the project are then developed: To what extent are identities of football fans across Europe “Europeanised”? What factors condition the level of Europeanisation of football supporters’ identities across different contexts? The chapter proceeds with a brief discussion of the added value of the approach for European identity studies and football research. We also highlight the political/social relevance of the book. Subsequently, we summarise the book’s main results and its impact for our knowledge in the field. Finally, the structure of the book is presented.
