Intermezzo: Anti-Globalist Feminist Resistance
摘要
Context: Micro politics largely explain an apparent “pause” in Benlyazid’s film production. Meanwhile, she writes articles and short stories in French (e.g., “A Day in the Life of Hajja Leimeth,” “Patience is beautiful”) and a second script for Tazi’s comedy, In Search of my Wife’s Husband (1993), a formidable success at the Moroccan box office. She goes to Mali to direct a documentary on anti-globalist activist Aminata Traoré: Aminata Traoré: A Woman of the Sahel (1993). She is also tasked with two other short documentaries: Contrabando (1994) made for Moroccan TV and Sur la terrasse/On the Terrace (1995), requested by the CCM to commemorate the centennial of cinema.
