Tangier and Paris: Multiculturalism and Feminism

  • Florence Martin

摘要

Context: Tangier and Farida’s family. Farida grew up in multi-cultural, multilingual Tangier, a city in which foreign films were shot and which boasted numerous movie theaters. After her short-lived marriage with political dissident Moumen Diouri, she studied literature and film in Paris, France, where she made her first documentary for French TV (Women’s Identities, 1978), became the first Moroccan woman producer (A breach in the Wall, Jillali Ferhati, 1978), and wrote her first script (Reed Dolls, Jillali Ferhati, 1982). She was also raising two daughters. This chapter is based in part on extended interviews with the filmmaker.
