Numerical Integration Methods

During this chapter, the topic of numerical integration methods is discussed. As the inverse operation of a derivative, the integration methods are crucial complements when solving engineering problems. As in the previous sections, addressing the problem from a computational point of view involves the use of numerical methods. During the rest of the chapter, the trapezoidal, Simpson’s 1/8 and 3/8 rules, integration using the closed Newton–Cotes formula, numerical integration in a two-dimensional domain, and MATLAB® integration commands are discussed.
