摘要

Plausible explanations for the rise of the New York Stock Exchange to pre-eminence are presented. These are (i) Population (ii) Wealth (iii) Opening of the Erie Canal (iv) Stock Ticker and the (v) Telegraph. Existing literature on these plausible explanations, and on when the NYSE rose to pre-eminence is presented.
