The Telegraph, NYSE, Bloomberg, and Uber

In the early 1840s in the United States, stock exchanges in New York, Philadelphia, and Boston each served their local market. The telegraph brought them into competition with each other. The New York Stock Exchange located in New York City emerged as the winner in this competition and began its rise to become the pre-eminent stock exchange in the United States. A brief literature review is included. The possibility of a wider applicability of the learnings from this competition is introduced.
