Tracheostomy Care

This case will review the management of a patient with respiratory failure who has a chronic tracheostomy in place. Providers will demonstrate correct BLS techniques and knowledge about local resources and policies, and correct application of ALS techniques and airway management. CCT providers will also demonstrate advance ventilator management techniques. Providers should review the different types of tracheostomies, components of a tracheostomy, suctioning a patient with such a device (with or without mechanical ventilation), and management of respiratory failure.
