Writing Australian Gardens to Cross Borders Between the Online and Offline Worlds

  • Renée Mickelburgh

摘要

My garden is a home school lesson filled with the sound of R. I have set up this learning place in the garden by following the path Helene Cixous first trod and the ladder she climbed, that grows down (Cixous, Three Steps on the Ladder of Writing, Columbia University Press, New York, 1993, 108). She wore away the path with the letter H in her school of writing to show what writing is, and how H is the axe that has cleared a new path in the garden for women, like me, who write (Cixous, Three Steps on the Ladder of Writing, Columbia University Press, New York, 1993, 4). R, is just an ordinary, everyday letter. It weaves a path that follows Cixous’ “rootprints” (Cixous and Calle-Gruber, Rootprints: Memory and Life Writing, Routledge, London, 1997). My home school learns the lessons Cixous teaches in her school of writing; a way of learning how to un-forget.
