The jejunum, ileum, transverse colon, and sigmoid colon are mobile intraperitoneal structures that are attached to the dorsal abdominal cavity by mesenteries. The cecum is an intraperitoneal organ but is covered on all sides by peritoneum. The visceral peritoneum of the right and left colon mesenteries is adherent to the retroperitoneal parietal peritoneum.
