Following an initial resection for ileocolic Crohn’s disease, recurrence occurs on the ileal side of the anastomosis without colonic involvement. Recurrence can be defined in symptomatic, microscopic, endoscopic, radiologic, or reoperative surgical terms. Large terminal ileal loss may have long-term adverse effects on the absorption of vitamins B12, bile salts, glucose, nutrients, electrolytes, water, immune response, and hormone secretion.

摘要

Following an initial resection for ileocolic Crohn’s disease, recurrence occurs on the ileal side of the anastomosis without colonic involvement. Recurrence can be defined in symptomatic, microscopic, endoscopic, radiologic, or reoperative surgical terms. Large terminal ileal loss may have long-term adverse effects on the absorption of vitamins B12, bile salts, glucose, nutrients, electrolytes, water, immune response, and hormone secretion.
