Toxic Clostridioides difficile Colitis
摘要
Clostridiodes difficile is a spore-forming organism present in normal intestinal flora that may cause infections with symptoms that range from nuisance diarrhea to life-threatening colitis. Major risk factors for C. difficile infection are hospitalization, older age, and antibiotic exposure. The organism produces a cytopathic toxin. Treatment options include: stopping the inciting agent, adjunctive agents, and surgery.
