Lynch syndrome is a hereditary condition that accounts for about 1–5% of colorectal cancers. Clinical features include autosomal dominant mode of inheritance, early onset of colon cancer, excess of cancers proximal to the splenic flexure, synchronous and metachronous cancer, extracolonic malignancies, a high lifetime colorectal cancer risk, and pathogenic variants in mismatch repair genes.
