Ludwig Burmester, Kinematics as Part of Geometry

ReuleauxReuleauxFranz introduced a very abstract point of view in kinematics of mechanisms. A kinematical chain became a collection of Euclidean planes moving with respect to each other. As a specialist in geometry Ludwig BurmesterBurmesterLudwig was in an ideal position to apply theoretical kinematics to kinematics of mechanisms. He did this systematically and also came up with new results in theoretical kinematics.
