On the Aesthetic Facets of Ice Urgency: Some Final Reflections

This final chapter reflects on the core themes explored in this book and critically discusses some of its key concepts, including ‘communication’ and ‘stages’. The chapter examines the research gaps in our cultural understanding of ice through (popular) arts and aesthetics, and the interdisciplinary breadth added to the discussion by the authors of this collection. In doing so, these final pages clarify what the voices from various disciplines in this book define as ‘communication with ice’ in science-related arts popular aesthetics and show how scholars and artists can inspire the use of ice as an active agent within contemporary and future artworks dealing with climate change.
