摘要

This chapter is an examination of advanced practice nurses (APN) clinical practice globally. APNs provide healthcare in a myriad of global settings. Whether in primary care or specialty practices, from rural Botswana to urban Montreal, the common thread in APN practice is well prepared nurses with advanced knowledge, skills, and expertise to meet existing and emerging health needs. As frontline providers APNs, often living in the communities they practice, are ideally situated to meet essential population health needs. The global aim of attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) through Universal Health Coverage (UHC) will require mobilising more APNs who are legally allowed, and professionally enabled, to provide care that reflects their full scope of practice.
