Patella Fracture Failed Fixation

An extensor mechanism injury sustained by an adult male is the clinical case used to describe how to address a patient with failed patella fracture fixation. After taking a complete set of X-rays, patients with suspected comminuted fractures could benefit from additional imaging to aid the diagnosis and level of comminution. Better clinical outcomes are obtained when patients with failed fixation are treated with an early ORIF. Screws and plates with or without tension band sutures can be used for additional fixation to provide stability. Regardless of which implants are used, an anatomic reduction is the main determinant for achieving a good result.
