Distal Femur Periprosthetic Fracture Failed Fixation
摘要
Due to the rising number of total knee replacements and an aging society, periprosthetic fractures of the distal femur have become a more frequent injury. Surgical fixation of those fractures is one of the most demanding procedures an orthopaedic surgeon can face. A successful treatment requires careful preoperative preparation with experience in fracture fixation and total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Herein, we present cases of failed fixation of distal femur periprosthetic fractures, analyse the aetiology of failure and discuss treatment options for revision surgery.
