Conclusion

This concluding chapter summarises Jack Lindsay’s contribution to social and political analysis, beginning with the concepts that map out the interconnectedness fundamental to human experience and being: the unity of human beings with the world in which they live, with each other and within themselves; the alienation that results when this interconnectedness is ruptured; and the ideology that causes this disruption, particularly when multiple ideologies and belief systems intersect. Lindsay wrote at length about methods of knowledge production that have become increasingly decontextualised and specialised in disciplinary thinking, and he argues for an interdisciplinary methodology and transdisciplinary practice that is an expression of the interconnectedness fundamental to his view of the world and exemplified for and by him in the artwork.
