Periocular Skin Lesions and Eyelid Tumours

Lesions within the eyelid and conjunctiva may be classed as benign or malignant, however there are a few conditions which fall in between these two categories. This chapter covers the more common lesions an oculoplastic surgeon may encounter and aims to give advice on the practicalities of their recognition, management and follow up. It is therefore not exhaustive and focuses on common clinical practice and pitfalls that may lead to misdiagnosis or malpractice. Management of locally advanced periocular and metastatic disease is covered in Chapter “Management of Locally Invasive and Metastatic Eyelid Tumours”.
