Saved By a Tree: BioMimicry and Innovation
摘要
In our quest to level up our creativity and innovation, we explore new realms, we look to the edge of domains, we find ways to connect separate elements, we build metaphors, we leap into a new discipline, we learn wisdom directly from nature. And perhaps, we are saved by a tree. This is an invitation to peak into the world of BioMimicry, where nature offers lessons in product, service, and system-level design, not just at the surface level, but deep into the mechanics, formation, structure, and contextual knowledge. To be inspired by nature is one thing, but to use its intelligence as a source of mentorship that helps solve some of our biggest challenges in our world, is another. When we work at the intersection of fields, bringing diverse teams of biologists, engineers and entrepreneurs to one design table, and replicating strategies that have worked for millions of years in nature, we learn how to gather energy efficiently, close cycle loops, allow for renewal process, and run on information at a system-level. By embracing this domain, and its unique way of thinking and acting, we open up our minds to evolving innovations and our world to embody nature’s ultimate resilience. We see what a tree and so much more can teach us.
