BioArt: An Art & Science Approach to Quality Living

  • Madeleine Barchevska

摘要

Theatre therapeutics, BioArt is a method that can provide core life skills and artistic embodiment. Participants of all ages can benefit from this concise, experiential training that is pragmatic, economical, accessible, and meaningful. Barchevska started life in a lively bilingual working-class Polish neighborhood in Wilmington, Delaware. She’ll share how she ended up running an international art & science “lab” and developing a new therapy through the theatre, winning honors for what’s termed an insightful life skills training approach. How these skills are ever more elusive the more device addicted we get. Some of the neurological aspects of device dependency—why, scientifically, it makes users less able, over time, to process interactions in the non-virtual, organic world. How to remedy that loss while still participating in virtual modes. How classically trained actors pull us into our nervous systems and how we, too, can harness this power to increase the impact of our presence in the world, and its response to us. How music has played a key role in developing the approach. The BioArt approach shows where to find holistic solutions to running your nervous system and find more quality in your daily experience. How to access and seamlessly apply and share this ability. How BioArt is not “drama therapy” but is a specifically designed distillation of core theatrical craft skills and states of being that transmit wholeness and health. Barchevska trains performing artists, teachers, therapists, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and software engineers and architects from the same BioArt approach.
