The History of the Military Industry and Operative Technology

The chapter presents relevant aspects of the national defense industry, with emphasis on armament evolution, the technology used in manufacturing it, the equipment needed, and the factories which produce it. Beyond the chronological aspects, the authors have highlighted the capacity of the national defense industry to adapt to the technological developments that impacted the modernization of the equipment produced in the country or abroad. Furthermore, the chapter presents the adaptability and flexibility of the Romanian factories to produce military equipment with the help of various research institutes, given that the role of innovation in this area is focused on responding to the capability requirements of national defense. At the end of the chapter, the evolution of the operative technologies used by the intelligence services to protect Romania’s national interests is presented.
