摘要

The evaluation of the biometry of the fetal bone structures represents a fundamental element of the obstetric ultrasound examination for the diagnosis of skeletal dysplasias. For all the bone parameters that can be measured it is indicated the method for carrying out the measurement, the clinical use of this biometry, the reproducibility of the measurement, and, above all, what can be useful to communicate to the reader is indicated as a “pill of experience.” Nomograms used were presented. The use of computerized systems is recommended to evaluate growth in terms of percentile so that any biometric reductions or increases can be detected as early as possible. In particular, dwarfism is an evolutive pathology and can only be identified by studying the nomogram. Finally, remember that we talk about dwarfism when the biometry is lower than the second centile. It is reiterated that any alteration of a bone from the norm must also lead to observations of the other organ systems, involving the geneticist in the clinical evaluation.
