Reflecting on Self as Other
摘要
Reflection might, at first, seem to be a retreat into subjectivity, but it is actually a technique for decentering the self, a move that is at the core of ethics. If we embrace radical reflection, we reflect on the self as if the self were another person. Reflection often also includes shifting perspectives, as the author’s “I” empathizes with diverse people and views the issue from outside of their limited consciousness.
