The International Civil Aviation Organization

The unflagging development of aviation safety since World War II has been due to the extraordinarily thorough investigation primarily of accidents and incidents. The experiences gained from investigations and the drawn lessons have transformed into rules and materialised as technical solutions. All these have facilitated the worldwide spread of aviation. These days travelling by plane is at least twenty times safer than it used to be at the dawn of the era of jet propulsion. In the Magnum Opus of world aviation, that is, the Chicago Convention, the most important chapter about SAFETY was noted down with blood by the exceptional and casual heroes of aviation. In this chapter the most significant challenge of the industry, aviation safety acquires sense and becomes manifest in an immensely rigorous and all-encompassing system of rules pertaining to all areas of aviation. This system of requirements is synthesised by a global summit organisation: ICAO.
