MUltiplexed Structured Image Capture (MUSIC)

This chapter discusses the passive imaging technique, MUltiplexed Structured Image Capture (MUSIC). The MUSIC technique uses modulation of light from a scene prior to imaging to encode the temporal evolution of target into spatial frequency shifts, with each shift corresponding to a unique time and resulting in individual distinct snapshots. Computer processing of the multiplexed image recovers the scene evolution. This chapter summarizes physical principles, various MUSIC modulation schemes, and applications of MUSIC techniques for ultrafast imaging, field of view extension, and three-dimensional imaging. Discussions on new research directions and applications are given at the end.
