Lymphaticovenous Anastomosis Training Using the Chicken Mid and Lower Wing

Chicken wings are relatively inexpensive, easy to store and prepare, simple to dissect, demonstrate consistent vessel anatomy and have vessel lumen calibers in the defined supermicrosurgery range. These advantages make the mid and lower wing of the chicken to be the ideal model for supermicrosurgery training. In particular, the deep radial artery, ventral metacarpal artery, superficial branch of the ulnar artery, accompanying vein of the ulnar artery and medial subcutaneous vein of the lower wing were most suitable for lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) training in view of their caliber.
