The Dynamic LVA

The dynamic-lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA) method is a reliable LVA technique at the forearm that promises early and long-term effects for mild to severe upper extremity lymphedema. In this method, patient’s natural hand motions are utilized to propel lymphatic fluid into the anastomosed vein of LVA, even when there are only severely degenerated lymphatic vessels in the patient’s arm. Patients treated by the dynamic LVA were more likely to finish their compression therapy than patients treated by traditional LVA because patients’ daily hand movements can compensate for the weak lymphatic flow power of lymphedema. Therefore, patients who have difficulty using compression therapy and patients who have too severe lymphedema can also be treated by this method.
