摘要

Welding activities are present within several types of industries, present both indoor and outdoor. It is considered as a hazardous activity which may lead to different health and safety risks, and in some extreme cases even lead to the death of the individual. This work’s objective was to conduct a risk management process of a welding workshop. For that purpose, it selected a welding workshop located in Juba, South Sudan. For the hazard identification an observation checklist was structured, considering several physical, biological, and chemical agents, ergonomic and accident hazards. The risk rating levels were defined by using the 5 × 5 Risk Assessment matrix, and finally risk treatment measures were recommended by following the hierarchy of control measures. The results of this study show that noise, electricity, and toxic gases may lead to high-risk consequences, while ultraviolet radiation, manual handling, and repetitive movement to moderate risk consequences.
