Models as Tools for the Design and Development Process

Models, theories and approaches provide important tools for the design and development process. This chapter summarises some theoretical perspectives that help to clarify the nature of models, theories and approaches in general and in the context of design and development. Ways of conceptualising the relationships between process models, theories and approaches and the design and development process itself are outlined.
