Metaphors for the Design and Development Process
摘要
The design and development process occurs in systems of human activity. As such it is perceived only through particular worldviews, where each brings some aspects to light while simplifying and submerging others. A range of process metaphors are available for thinking about a design and development process, reflecting different worldviews that yield different and complementary insights. This chapter discusses some of the most common process metaphors and the insights that can be gained from each. Recognising the range of possible metaphors may lead to a more holistic understanding of a process situation than perceiving it through one lens alone.
