Introduction

In this introductory chapter, we provide an overview of the main topics covered in this book and the motivations to write it. The importance of efficient number systems for Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) and their impact on hardware design and performance are emphasized. In addition, we list the various number systems that will be discussed in detail in the subsequent chapters. Finally, we outline the organization of the book with a summary of the contents of each chapter, to offer readers a clear roadmap of what to expect while exploring number systems for DNNs in this book.
