Comparative-Historical and Statistical Analysis of Overcoming Inequality in the Post-soviet States

Integration processes on the post-Soviet territories began nearly immediately after the USSR crash back in 1991. These processes have plentiful reasons and interests behind them: economic ones (maintaining the production & distribution chains), political ones (joint efforts to maintain security); social ones (relatively common language environment, genetically and family connections, migration flows between the countries). There have been several attempts to create regional integrations on the post-Soviet territories, after the Soviet split and till now, however, none of them has caused economic alignment. Moreover, the level of intraregional differentiation inside such integrations has been always quite high, and external economic cooperation between the countries participating in these integrations has been always troublesome. This is what makes our study topical: here we are trying to find an efficient instrument for cohesiveness, financial one in the first place. Thus, the article outlines the major problems of international economic integration between the ex-members of the USSR and also discusses whether scenarios and experiences of other regional integrations (EU and MERCOSUR in the first place) are applicable to the post-Soviet countries. A set of recommendations is put forward concerning the financing of potential harmonization projects within the Eurasian Economic Union framework.
