Determining the Environmental Flow in the Cultivation of Agricultural Crops for the Lower Delta of the Amudarya River

Increase water use efficiency by 4% by 2010 and by 14% by 2025 in average water years as additional environmental flow can be released. The expected future increase in agricultural water use efficiency may improve the provision of ecological flows, but even with significant increases in efficiency, the needs of lake systems cannot be fully met in low water years. There is a physical limit to the extent to which reductions in the quantity and quality of ecological stream water resources can cause irreversible damage to ecosystem functions, flow regimes are necessary to maintain critical aquatic ecosystem services. A simple flow-ecology curve was used in the current research to determine the ecological flow standard and critical ecological flow values were determined. These critical ecological flow values were determined based on water distribution and consumption and productivity by agricultural crop type. Environmental flow accounting is a key element of good practice in water resources planning and management. The standard ecological flow value for each crop type, which is the main part of this scientific research work, was determined based on the normal-curvature graphs.
