Quality Surface Forming During Parts Strengthening-Finishing Treatment with Oscillatory Tool

The article presents the research on the new method of surface plastic deformation with oscillatory tool—eccentric reinforcer. The method refers to the surface plastic deformation processing and can be used for part treatment locally. It allows to treat large parts in places which are considered to be stress concentrators like welded seam and small areas hardening of the surface which is necessary for parts performance capability. Treatment kinematic scheme is presented with a process description. A set of theoretical studies was carried out, the results of which determined the indenter and part surface single interaction parameters, the plastic imprint diameter and its depth. After detail treatment it was found that a specific microrelief was formed on the part surface with isotropic properties in all directions. Dependencies found allow to determine surface roughness, depth of the hardened layer, and deformation degree. The formulas calculted were tested for adequacy. Results of experimental studies are presented. The difference between theoretical calculations and experimental results does not exceed 15%. Further tasks for the study of the processing method under consideration are determined.
