A New Highly Productive Variety of Strong Winter Soft Wheat “Jubilee of Don”

Wheat bread rightfully belongs to the greatest inventions of mankind. A commercially attractive wheat variety should not only be highly productive, but also consistently form a grain quality of at least Grade 3, which ensures more cost-effective production, as well as have a good bakery rating. The purpose of the research is to characterise a new variety of winter soft wheat “Jubilee of Don” for compliance with these requirements. The research was carried out in 2017–2021 on experimental fields of scientific crop rotation of the Department of winter wheat of the 1FSBSI Agrarian Scientific Center “Donskoy”. The object of research was a variety of winter soft wheat of the “Jubilee of Don”. The “Ermak” variety was used as a standard. The registered area of the plot is 10 m2. The “Jubilee of Don” variety has a high grain productivity. The average yield of the variety in competitive tests for the predecessor sideral steam for five years of study (2017–2021) was 9.64 t/ha, which is higher than the standard “Ermak” variety by 0.59 t/ha. By maturation, it belongs to the middle early group of ripeness, it forms ears and ripens 1–2 days later than the standard variety. It has high drought resistance, heat resistance, frost resistance, and resistance to the main diseases of the region. The “Jubilee of Don” is included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation and is approved for use in the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions of the Russian Federation.
