“APPROVED BY US FORCES”: Showing and Hiding Art from Guantánamo

In 2017, I curated the first comprehensive exhibition of artwork made by detainees at Guantánamo Bay. This chapter describes the history of the making of this art, its exportation from Guantánamo, and the consequences of the 2017 exhibition, which included the institution of new policies prohibiting more artwork from leaving the camp.
