This conclusion summarizes the argument that the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) in its current form is unsustainable in the long term. There has been a significant rise in unemployment, populism, inequality and poverty. The only way forward for the united Left of the Eurozone is to collectively reconceptualize a different monetary union, re-organize, and fight for a more democratic Eurozone. The only possible ecological-economic-political path to recovery and transition—should the Left attain power—is through the green transformation and democracy initiated by mission-oriented and innovation-prone state investment. Certain steps have been taken in this direction in the wake of the COVID-19 health-and-economic shock.

摘要
