This chapter develops a theoretical framework for the whole book. It draws on Deleuze and Guattari’s understanding of economy and finance as well as their central concept of assemblage. A different understanding of the concept is elaborated in comparison to that immanent to performativity. Consequently, a critique of performativity is discussed in relation to the lack of political ontology and its capacity to interrogate sovereign power. Finally, there is an analysis of Lazzarato’s reading of Foucault, and Deleuze and Guattari in the context of the sovereign debt crisis.

摘要

This chapter develops a theoretical framework for the whole book. It draws on Deleuze and Guattari’s understanding of economy and finance as well as their central concept of assemblage. A different understanding of the concept is elaborated in comparison to that immanent to performativity. Consequently, a critique of performativity is discussed in relation to the lack of political ontology and its capacity to interrogate sovereign power. Finally, there is an analysis of Lazzarato’s reading of Foucault, and Deleuze and Guattari in the context of the sovereign debt crisis.
