Activities of Daily Living
摘要
Activities of daily living (ADLs) are broadly grouped into basic activities of daily living (bADLs), more complex instrumental activities of daily living (iADLs), and enhanced activities of daily living (eADLs). BADLs include activities such as dressing, bathing, feeding oneself, personal care, and toileting (Lawton and Brody Lawton MP, Brody EM (1969) Assessment of older people: self-maintaining and instrumental activities of daily living1. The Gerontologist 9(3_Part_1):179–186. 10.1093/geront/9.3_Part_1.179). Instrumental activities of daily living include transportation (driving, using public transit), managing schedules and your calendar, managing personal finance, medication taking, cooking, and house cleaning (Lawton and Brody Lawton MP, Brody EM (1969) Assessment of older people: self-maintaining and instrumental activities of daily living1. The Gerontologist 9(3_Part_1):179–186. 10.1093/geront/9.3_Part_1.179). EADLs include social activities such as going to a concert, sports event, or museum. The loss of ability to perform iADLs and bADLs results in a loss of independence. All these activities of daily living could be monitored and encouraged in a supportive smart home environment.
